Work at Syrakon.
Syrakon is intentionally small. We hire when there's real work that wouldn't get done otherwise — not to look bigger on a deck. If you join, you ship customer-visible things in week one.
How we work
- Native or C2 Spanish.
- Day-to-day work happens in Spanish — written and spoken. C2 / native level is a hard requirement, no exceptions. English is fine on top, but Spanish is the working language.
- Barcelona and surroundings, for now.
- For the first hires we only consider candidates already living in Barcelona or its metropolitan area. We will open up beyond that later — not yet.
- 4-hour day, 4-day week.
- Workdays are four hours long. Once we have an office, you arrive and leave when you want as long as those four hours are covered, with everyone wrapping up by 14:00 to head home. Four working days per week.
- Minimal meetings.
- No meeting-for-the-sake-of-meeting culture. We get together when there is a real decision to make or context to align — not for status updates, not for "quick syncs", not because the calendar is empty.
- Small product, full ownership.
- No tickets-to-ship factory. You pick up a problem, you take it through to production, you respond when a customer hits a bug.
- Full-time SMI for a 16-hour week.
- Base pay is the full Spanish minimum wage (SMI) — the figure for a 40-hour week — but the actual schedule is 16 hours (4h × 4 days). Same pay, less work. On top, hitting your daily goals adds a monthly bonus, and the role itself can add an extra adder (admin, engineering, lead each have their own). Exact numbers move within a range and are agreed up front for each hire.
- A sudoku, not a whiteboard.
- Instead of technical tests, we ask you to solve a sudoku. It signals what we actually care about — focus, working memory, recognising patterns, recovering from a wrong move — without rewarding memorisation (crosswords) or randomness (minesweeper). The result helps us think about which kind of role fits you, not whether you "pass".
Open positions
No open positions right now. We hire when the next role would obviously make the studio better.
If you'd be a great fit anyway — send a speculative note. Tell us what you'd do here that nobody else would. No CV needed; a link to something you've shipped is worth ten.
What we don't do
- Coding interviews on a whiteboard.
- Take-home technical tests.
- Personality tests.
- "Culture fit" rounds with eight people.
- Stock options that vest in eight years on a non-exit company.
